Horncastle Group PLC relocate to Green Park

09 Dec 2015 | Categories: News | Posted by: Angela Leeman

LEADING East Yorkshire property developer, Horncastle Group Plc, has relocated its corporate headquarters to Green Park Business Park near Newport.

The company moved from the iconic clock-tower building in South Cave at the end of November into one of the new Eco 90 Offices on the development, which is located at J38 of the M62, where the motorway becomes the A63.

Created by the Horncastle Group, Green Park is an environmentally friendly, 20 acre, mixed-use business park consisting of prime office, industrial and leisure space, destined to become a hub for businesses over the next few years.

When complete, it will consist of an office zone, an industrial and warehouse zone and a leisure and commercial zone, which are currently being planned by the developer.

Ian Hodges, managing director of Horncastle Group PLC, said the company decided to make the move as Green Park’s modern offices and eco-friendly design were more befitting of the developer’s ethos than its former home.

The park was created to give forward-thinking businesses access to high-quality accommodation but with low running costs, and includes a 78m, 500KW wind turbine supplied by Emergya Wind Technologies (EWT) UK Ltd.

Mr Hodges said: “In creating Green Park Business Park, we had a number of objectives that have guided the project from day one. They included creating very attractive accommodation that will lead to the development of a business hub in the Newport and North Cave area which will have a significant, positive impact on the level of economic activity, and making the development as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible”.

“This can be seen in the design of the buildings which are very energy efficient and all have Energy Performance Certificate ratings of A. There is also a wind turbine that became operational at the end of October and now feeds electricity into the national grid to offset usage on the park.”

Mr Hodges added that the Horncastle Group PLC had decided to relocate to Green Park Business Park to demonstrate the company’s commitment to the project, help establish a business community and promote the development.

He said: “We’re very proud of Green Park and keen to see it fully developed over the next few years so it can create the additional growth opportunities for businesses in the region”.

“The ethos behind it is very much in line with our values as a company – modern, responsible and innovative – so therefore it was a logical decision to make Green Park our new headquarters”.

“It is also a source of considerable pride that we are now occupying one of our own developments which is a very fitting place for us to be.”

All but three of the units in phase one of the development, which consists of 10 eco-offices and a 20,000sqft eco-industrial unit, are now occupied or reserved. Future phases are being planned and will include design and build packages to suit end users requirements.

The first phase of the project is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund Programme 2007 to 2013. Further speculative development will also be undertaken if ERDF grant can be secured in the future.

Green Park Wind Turbine is now in place at Newport

19 Oct 2015 | Categories: News | Posted by: Angela Leeman

THE latest installation at one of East Yorkshire’s newest business parks is helping the development live up to its name.

A 78m wind turbine now towers over Green Park, an eco-friendly business park between North Cave and Newport, being built by well-known developer Horncastle Group PLC.

The 500KW turbine, which has been supplied by Emergya Wind Technologies (EWT) UK Ltd, stands 50m to the hub and a further 28m to the tip of the blades.

It was erected in just eight hours earlier this month and is due to go live on October 31st, when it will feed electricity directly into the national grid.

ANH & Turbine

Andrew Horncastle, chairman of the Horncastle Group PLC, said it had always been the company’s intention to build sustainable, eco-friendly commercial space and the wind turbine was a major part of that vision.

Mr Horncastle said: “The vision for Green Park was to create an environmentally friendly business space which is efficient and modern, catering for businesses of all types that have their eye on the future.

“Green energy and sustainability are such a huge part of business and life nowadays that we must build efficiency and environmental solutions into our developments as standard.

“The wind turbine is a big part of that. When it goes live at the end of October it will be feed a lot of the electricity straight back into the national grid, offsetting that used on Green Park. I t is a huge part of making the business park so efficient and ensuring it really lives up to its name.”

Despite being the standard white in colour, Mr Horncastle said he submitted a planning request to allow it to be painted the colours of a daffodil.

The original idea was to paint the tower green the hub orange and the blades yellow to resemble the centre and petals, but the application was refused by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Located just off Junction 38 of the M62, where the motorway meets the A63, Green Park includes an office zone, a warehousing and industrial zone and a commercial/retail and leisure zone when completed.

Phase one of the development is currently available, which includes 450sqft eco-offices and 900sqft eco-offices, as well as a 20,000sqft eco-industrial unit.

The first phase of the project is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund Programme 2007 to 2013. The buildings also have green credentials and are very energy efficient with Energy Performance Certificate ratings of A.

Future phases are now being planned and will include design and build packages to suit end users requirements. Further speculative development will also be undertaken if ERDF grant can be secured in the future.
